Mexico could overtake Brazil as the region’s biggest economy by 2022, owing to Brazil’s slowing growth and what analysts call Mexico’s “new dawn” as an alternative manufacturing base to increasingly expensive China. Mexico posted growth of 3.9 % last year compared to Brazil’s 2.7 % and Mexico’s central bank is forecasting growth of as much as 4.25 % this year. Brazil is forecasted to grow 1.6 % this year.
