Its powerful winds subsided, the most dangerous aspect of Florence lingers: Floodwaters
The once-powerful hurricane, downgraded to a tropical storm after landfall, is now categorized as a tropical depression. Deluges of rain continue to inundate parts of North and South Carolina, where some areas have seen more than 30 inches of rain. More than a dozen people have been reported dead in the two states.
Aerial photos from Associated Press photographer Steve Helber show how Florence made its mark across North Carolina’s small towns and farmland.
