Many iPhone owners, even those with the newest models, struggle to get through the day on a single charge. Up until last year, Apple produced a battery-pack case for its newest iPhones, and allowed other companies, like Mophie, to produce cases as well.
But for no apparent reason—other than, potentially, a shift to more wireless charging mats—Apple never came out with a battery case for the iPhone X, even after it released another set of phones that include the iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr. (Mophie did eventually produce a case for the X, but more than a year after the phone was released.)
All that might be about to change. A reportedly leaked document surfaced by AppleInsider today (Dec. 18) suggests that Apple is about to release a battery case for the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. The document, allegedly from Apple’s marketing department and intended for salespeople at its stores, shows a list of colors and models of “premium accessory” products available in the fall. Within the rainbow of colors and cases, the document shows battery cases for the company’s latest phones. If older models are anything to go on, the cases would likely cost at least $100.
There’s no guarantee that Apple will be shipping these soon—the company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment—but for everyone who always seems to need just a little more charge, here’s hoping.
