Attorney general William Barr will appear this morning before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify about special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election and suspected ties to the Trump campaign.

Barr’s testimony, scheduled to begin at 10am US Eastern time, comes the day after news that Mueller objected to Barr’s summary of his investigation as lacking crucial context.

Republicans lead the Judiciary Committee chaired by Lindsey Graham. He and other GOP senators are expected to focus less on contradictions between Barr’s four-page summary and the full Mueller report and more on the beginnings of the Russia probe itself, which they have characterized as improper.

Democrats are expected to focus on Barr’s summary and announcement of the report’s findings, which they say he mischaracterized, and how he described Mueller’s conclusions on whether Trump obstructed justice.
