“Bimbo. Dog. Fat Pig.” That’s how this new anti-Donald Trump ad starts: with a series of insults from the GOP frontrunner about women, read by other women.
In fact, that’s the whole ad: women repeating various cringe-worthy things that the man who could win the Republican nomination has said about women. Thrown in the mix are Trump’s thoughts on Princess Diana (“She had the height. She had the beauty. She was crazy—but these are minor details”) and child-rearing (“I won’t do anything to take care of them. I’ll supply the funds, and she’ll take care of the kids”).
Trump has been called out on his attitude toward women since the beginning of his candidacy—recall the first GOP debate, when Trump was dragged for his treatment of Fox News’ Megyn Kelly. The things that have come out of his mouth have very clearly painted him as a misogynist: from the time he insulted Carly Fiorina’s looks and then said she had a “beautiful face,” to the time he said Hillary Clinton “got schlonged” by rival Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election.
As Jezebel’s political vertical The Slot notes, the ad was produced by Our Principles PAC, which was founded by the deputy campaign manager of 2012 Mitt Romney campaign. The group told the New York Times that the ad (which has a handful of bleeped-out expletives) is running nationally as well as locally in Ohio and Florida.
