7-Eleven launched a private-label soda line under its 7-Select brand, positioning the convenience chain as a lower-cost alternative to Coca-Cola $KO and PepsiCo $PEP in the carbonated soft drink market.
The new 7-Select Soda lineup includes three flavors: Cola Classic, Orange Soda, and Lemon-Lime Twist. The 20-ounce bottles are priced at $1.99 each and come with a resealable cap, the company said. The Lemon-Lime Twist is caffeine-free, according to the company.
The sodas are available at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores in the U.S., the company said.
"7-Select Soda reflects what the 7-Select brand stands for: variety, dependable quality and value," Nikki Boyers, vice president of Private Brands, Emerging Brands and 7 Ventures at 7-Eleven, said in a statement. "This new offering is the latest example of how 7-Select keeps evolving, introducing new flavors and products that exceed expectations for what convenience should taste like."
The 7-Select brand's existing beverage portfolio spans categories including sports drinks, energy drinks, juices, and iced teas, according to Allrecipes. The soda line represents an extension of that portfolio into a category dominated by major national brands.
7-Eleven, Inc. is based in Irving, Texas, and operates, franchises, or licenses more than 12,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, the company said.
