A Nigerian matchmaker has found a client base that hasn’t yet been catered to by dating apps: the HIV-positive. Nigeria’s 3.5 million HIV-positive people are often stigmatized for their diagnosis. Matchmaker Ugochukwu Michael says as a result they isolate themselves, returning to their home villages and “waiting for death to come.” He’s tried to help, offering matchmaking services for $6 a person, and facilitating 100 matches since 2012.
