With Amy Schumer, we may have found the perfect person to play a live-action Barbie

Amy Schumer may come to define Barbie for the next generation. The actress is in early talks to star as the iconic doll in a live-action Sony film, Variety reported.

The curvy comedian isn’t the first person who comes to mind when thinking about a perfectly proportioned Barbie doll. But that’s precisely what makes her a great fit for the role. She confidently bucks the unattainable body types the toy is known for promoting. The Barbie Schumer would play in the film reportedly goes on a real-world adventure after being tossed out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough.

Variety said Schumer and her sister, Kim Caramele, are expected to rewrite the script, if Schumer is cast in the part.

Schumer has spoken out about body issues before. She called for an end to body labeling earlier this year after she was featured in Glamour magazine’s “plus size” issue.

But, like her would-be character, Schumer is far from perfect. She was recently slammed for what critics called a “racially insensitive” Beyonce parody.

Barbie-maker Mattel, for its part, has been trying to make its iconic doll more representative of real women following backlash from parents and critics. Earlier this year, it released the first “curvy” Barbie doll, along with tall and petite body sizes.
