The airline industry spent much of the summer worrying about its so-called “capacity crisis,” where executives worried that too many available seats were making flying too cheap to sustain business growth. But falling fares are corporate problems, not yours. In some cases, according to the Department of Transportation, flights have gotten cheaper by more than 25%.

The route, flown by about 25,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $209.15 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $158.05, a 24.4% decrease.

9. Minneapolis, Minnesota to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The route, flown by about 75,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $296.69 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $223.16, a 24.8% decrease.

8. Orlando, Florida to Sacramento, California

The route, flown by about 43,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $367.31 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $274.33, a 25.3% decrease.

The route, flown by about 72,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $311.25 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $231.26, a 25.7% decrease.

The route, flown by about 55,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $282.21 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $208.85, a 26% decrease.

The route, flown by about 28,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $194.19 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $143.56, a 26.1% decrease.

The route, flown by about 25,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $366.80 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $262.39, a 28.5% decrease.

The route, flown by about 45,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $365.95 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $261.01, a 28.7% decrease.

The route, flown by about 24,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $213.64 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $140.17, a 34.4% decrease.

The route, flown by about 44,000 passengers in the second quarter of 2024, cost $246.57 on average for the same period last year. The fare fell to $148.61, a 39.7% decrease.
