Nick Enfield is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Sydney, and is Director of the Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre. His research focuses on language, mind, and social life, with a specialization in the languages of mainland Southeast Asia, especially Laos. He has published 17 books and more than 150 scholarly articles and reviews. His latest book is How We Talk: The Inner Workings of Conversation (2017).
