American-made vehicles now come with a real financial incentive. Buyers who finance a car assembled in the United States can deduct up to $10,000 in loan interest from their federal taxes. The offer applies to any new vehicle purchased after Jan. 1, 2025, and is set to phase out after 2028.
Consumer Reports evaluated vehicles across 10 categories using road tests, reliability data, owner satisfaction surveys, and safety assessments to find the best ones built on American soil.

The Civic Hybrid starts at $29,395 and delivers 200 horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain, 50 more than the gas-only Civic. The extra output helps it reach 60 mph in 7.5 seconds — a full two seconds quicker than the base model — while also returning 44 mpg overall versus 33 mpg for the standard version. Consumer Reports testers found the Hybrid exceptional for its refined power delivery and rewarding feel on twisty roads, not just its efficiency figures. The hatchback body style, including the hatchback hybrid, comes from Greensburg, Ind., while sedan Civics are assembled in Ontario.

The Camry starts at $29,100 and is now sold exclusively as a hybrid, with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that returned 48 mpg overall in Consumer Reports tests. Built in Georgetown, Ky., it struck a pleasing equilibrium between smooth ride quality and confident cornering in CR's evaluation, a recipe Toyota has honed even closer this model year. Front and rear seats are comfortable, and every trim is available with all-wheel drive. Its reliability score improved over the previous model year, giving this repeat winner an even stronger long-term value case.

The Crosstrek starts at $26,995 with every gas-only trim now powered by a 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a continuously variable transmission and standard all-wheel drive, yielding 29 mpg overall. Built in Lafayette, Ind., it handles well, with quick steering and minimal body roll through turns. Consumer Reports testers called out its ride quality as particularly noteworthy, noting it irons out surface imperfections more effectively than most vehicles in this class and stays composed even during light off-pavement use. Buyers who want the U.S.-built version should choose a non-hybrid trim, as the hybrid Crosstrek is imported from Japan.

The Forester Hybrid starts at $34,730 carrying over the gas model's excellent visibility, spacious interior, and solid safety scores. The 2.5-liter flat-four engine pairs with Toyota-sourced electric hardware to produce 194 hp. The hybrid trim returns 5 mpg more than the conventional Forester, according to Consumer Reports. Both the gas-only and hybrid Foresters are assembled in Lafayette, Ind., so the choice of powertrain doesn't affect the American-made status.

The Grand Highlander Hybrid starts at $46,205 with genuine adult-sized seating in all three rows, which most three-row SUVs sacrifice to preserve cargo space. The optional 245-horsepower hybrid powertrain returns 35 mpg overall in CR's tests, on par with many compact SUV hybrids while moving a vehicle this size. Ride quality is unusually smooth for a three-row SUV, particularly on 18-inch wheels, CR testers noted. Built in Princeton, Ind., it offers family capacity and hybrid efficiency at a price roughly $20,000 below the full-size Sequoia.

The BMW X3 starts at $52,650 with standard all-wheel drive, a 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system on the base 30 xDrive trim. The powertrain is peppy and polished, with fuel efficiency and nimble handling that punch above the price, CR testers found. A more powerful M50 xDrive trim adds a turbocharged six-cylinder producing 393 horsepower for buyers who want sports-car performance in an SUV body. Both trims are built at BMW's Spartanburg, S.C., plant, the same facility that produces the X5.

The X5 starts at $69,750 with a leather, wood, and chrome cabin and sculpted seats that CR found suited for daylong road trips. Fuel economy reaches 23 mpg overall in gas-only form, among the strongest figures of any non-hybrid midsized luxury SUV, with acceleration that rivals a sports sedan's. The plug-in hybrid version is rated for 39 miles of electric-only range, covering most daily commutes without burning fuel. Once the battery depletes, that version returns 21 mpg, and both configurations are built in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Ridgeline starts at $42,290 with a 280-horsepower V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic, delivering ride quality and interior comfort closer to the Honda Pilot than to a conventional work truck. That unibody construction gives the Ridgeline a car-like composure no body-on-frame midsize pickup can match, CR testers found. The tailgate folds down or swings sideways to open a large lockable storage box built into the bed floor, giving the Ridgeline a cargo trick no midsize rival offers. Assembly takes place in Lincoln, Ala., qualifying it for the American-made loan interest deduction.

The F-150 starts at $40,085 on the strength of improved reliability, a weak point for full-size trucks that Ford has addressed this model year. The 430-horsepower, 3.5-liter turbo V6 hybrid is the standout powertrain, producing 570 lb.-ft. of torque, well above the 5.0-liter V8's 410 lb.-ft., at lower rpm for stronger towing, CR found. A roomy cabin, simple controls, and Ford's BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system round out the package. Assembly splits between plants in Dearborn, Mich., and Claycomo, Mo., both qualifying under the American-made deduction.

The Model Y starts at $41,630 as the world's top-selling electric vehicle, with up to 357 miles of range on the Premium trim and access to Tesla's Supercharger network. The 2026 refresh brought a more compliant ride, acoustic glass, upgraded interior materials, and a rear 8-inch touchscreen on mid-level trims. Thrilling acceleration, sharp handling, and wide-open forward sightlines carry over from the previous version, CR found. Production takes place in Austin, Texas, and reliability has improved each model year, giving this EV a consistency record no domestic rival can yet match.
