Braun’s 9 speed mixer “handles light tasks with ease, earning excellent scores in creating light and fluffy egg whites and airy whipped cream quickly,” CR said. It’s a bit noisy at the fastest speed, but that’s pretty unavoidable. It costs $100.

If you don’t feel like you need as many speeds, the KitchenAid 6-speed is $10 cheaper at $65. “This mixer earns very good results in the rest of our performance tests and evaluations, proving it is capable, convenient, and not too noisy, even at its highest speed,” CR said.
