Coppertone's Water Babies Lotion SPF 50 was the only sunscreen to achieve a perfect score from Consumer Reports. "This is a thin lotion with a slight floral and baby powder scent," CR said. It has 80 minutes of water resistance and costs less than $9. Still, "it left a sheen and a lot of greasy film on testers’ skin," CR notes.

Eucerin's Advanced Hydration Spray SPF 50 was rated the best spray sunscreen. It usually costs around $16 or more. The Banana Boat Sport Ultra Roll-On SPF 60+ was rated the best stick sunscreen. It has strong UV protection and costs around $15. "This roll-on sunscreen has a clay and plastic aroma sometimes associated with fragrance-free products," CR said. "It rubs in quickly, leaving a slight waxy film on the skin." The product is water-resistant for 80 minutes. But CR still didn't love it, saying stick sunscreen in general is lackluster.
