Four of the top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix are from the United Kingdom

People around the world watched a whopping 94 billion hours of Netflix $NFLX during the first half of the year, according to a new report from the streaming giant. Four of the top 10 most-watched titles this year came from the U.K. — including season three of Bridgerton and the miniseries Fool Me Once. The most-watched shows also included a Spanish-language thriller, an American crime drama, and a children’s fantasy series.

Netflix $NFLX’s adaptation of the novel One Day by British author David Nicholls is about the decades-long love story of Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley, as they meet on the same day every year. In the first half of 2024, it garnered 39.4 million views and has been watched for 263 million hours.

The first season of “Berlin,” a spinoff of the hugely successful Spanish drama “Money Heist,” was viewed 48.5 million times, adding up to 318.4 million hours.

Netflix $NFLX’s “3 Body Problem” was created by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and is based on a successful sci-fi Chinese novel series. Its first season was watched 52.4 million times for 388.1 million hours.

Netflix $NFLX’s docuseries about the home invasion and abduction of Denise Huskins was watched 55 million times for 123.7 million hours.

This miniseries starring and produced by Sofia Vergara tells the story of Griselda Branco, the leader of one the most powerful drug cartels in history. It was watched 69.2 million times for 383 million hours during the first half of the year.

The first of Netflix $NFLX’s live-action adaptation of the popular children’s animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” was viewed 71.1 million times for 515.3 million hours.

Netflix $NFLX’s action comedy by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie was watched 75.9 million times for 507.3 million hours. It’s a spinoff of Ritche’s 2019 movie of the same name.

“Baby Reindeer” is a show written by and starring Emmy-winning comedian Richard Gadd, recounting what he and Netflix $NFLX claim is true story. In the series, a struggling comedian is stalked by a woman who sends him hundreds of hours of voice mails and over 40,000 emails. It was watched 87.6 million times for 347.6 million hours.

The third season of Netflix $NFLX’s historical romance series takes the second spot among the most-watched shows on the platform this year so far. It was watched 91.9 million times, adding up to 733.8 million hours.

“Fool Me Once,” a British mystery thriller based on a novel by American writer Harlen Coben, is the most-watched Netflix $NFLX series of the year so far by views. In the first half of the year, it was watched 107.5 million times for 689.5 million hours.
