Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot Sunday evening at the couple's home in Ashburn, Virginia, with the couple's son subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
According to NBC News, sheriff's deputies arriving at the Ashburn address around 7:32 p.m. on July 26 discovered Mia Bieniemy had been struck by multiple gunshots. She was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for what authorities described as serious injuries.
Facing three felony counts — malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling — Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was taken into custody and ordered held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, according to USA Today. Court records reviewed by USA Today indicate his arraignment took place Monday morning and that a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 31.
