  • This reminds me of a little court case from 2001: United States v. Microsoft Corp. I can’t see this standing without a fight - although maybe not, today’s regulatory environment differs GREATLY from what now seems like a distant past of fighting to promote competition, choice, and consumer protection...

  • A brilliant move by Amazon to sneak into user homes, track everything they do, and leverage that data to sell them more products. All without the end user even realizing.

  • Amazon is clearly outperforming the competition... But the question shouldn't be Alexa vs Siri vs Assistant... The question should be whether tenants / hotel guests should be forced into having/using the service.

For the record, I own several Alexa devices and use them to control parts of the house

For the record, I own several Alexa devices and use them to control parts of the house and love it. But it was my choice to do so.

And if builders and hotel companies are smart, they should push for open standards and interoperable components. A landlord can purchase light bulbs and toilet tank flaps from any manufacturer because there are standards...

  • As they always say: Product wins games, distribution wins championships.

It impressed upon me that FlyZoo has reached a different stage of what Amazon is building or introducing.

Clearly, this is an attempt to surround us with an ecosystem which left us with limited choices but to “submit” our data for commercial considerations.

There’s no right or wrong perspective. It’s a matter of choice we made.
