A cordless stick vacuum that dies partway through a cleaning session forces an awkward pause to recharge, and run times vary widely between models, from as little as 17 minutes to nearly an hour on a single charge. Battery problems remain common too, with member surveys showing that more than a quarter of owners who bought a cordless stick vacuum between 2015 and 2025 reported some kind of battery issue.

Consumer Reports tested cordless stick vacuums for run time, charge time and overall cleaning performance, listing these four from longest to shortest run time.

The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra VS90F40DMK/AA sits at the premium end of this lineup and delivered a 52-minute run time with a 5-hour charge time, a longer run time than any other vacuum Consumer Reports measured among these four. CR rated it excellent at picking up dirt from bare floors and pet hair, all while running extremely quietly, and found it very good at carpets too, a category where CR noted many cordless stick vacuums tend to fall short. Testers liked the digital display that shows remaining run time during use, along with a battery that pops out easily for charging or swapping. Samsung earned respectable marks for both reliability and owner satisfaction as a cordless stick vacuum brand in CR member surveys.

The Shark Stratos IZ862H sits at the budget end of this lineup and delivered a 40-minute run time with a 4-hour charge time. Consumer Reports found it excelled at clearing debris from room edges where the floor meets the wall, though it only managed a midrange score on carpets, making it a better match for homes with mostly bare flooring. Testers pointed to a sensor that boosts suction automatically when it detects extra dirt, plus a self-cleaning mechanism that helps stop hair from wrapping around the brush roll, and CR said that particular problem ranks among the more common complaints its members report about vacuums generally. Shark earned a favorable owner satisfaction score as a cordless stick vacuum brand in CR member surveys, alongside a middling reliability rating.

Bosch Unlimited 10 BCS1041TUC

The Bosch Unlimited 10 BCS1041TUC sits in the mid-range price tier for this lineup and delivered a 37-minute run time with a 4-hour charge time. Consumer Reports liked its bendable tube for reaching under furniture, along with a compression lever on the dustbin that increases how much debris it can hold before needing to be emptied. Testers rated it solid on carpets and even stronger at pulling debris off bare floors, and found it can pick up dirt moving both forward and backward, unlike many vacuums that only clean effectively in one direction. That practical feature set paired with strong cleaning performance makes it a reasonable middle-ground option in this lineup.

The Shark Vertex Pro IZ662H sits at the premium end of this lineup and delivered a 31-minute run time with a 4-hour charge time, a shorter run time than any other vacuum in this lineup, though Consumer Reports still recommends it for other strengths. CR rated it excellent at picking up dirt from bare floors, corners and pet hair, and gave it top marks in filtration effectiveness, useful for people with allergies in particular. Carpet performance came back only middling, but testers praised the DuoClean powerhead that combines bristles with a soft roller, plus a flexible wand for cleaning under furniture and a design that folds down for compact storage. Its shorter run time is the main tradeoff against the other vacuums in this lineup.
