Costco $COST is adding a bottled water option to its iconic $1.50 hot dog combo, the first change to the offering in more than 40 years — though the price remains unchanged.
Two versions of the combo are now available at most locations for $1.50 each: the longstanding pairing of a hot dog with a 20-ounce refillable fountain soda, and a newer option that substitutes a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature water. The hot dog at the center of the combo — a quarter-pound, all-beef frank — remains exactly as it has always been.
Photos of a revised menu board showing both a "Hot Dog & Soda Combo" and a "Hot Dog & Water Combo" priced at $1.50 began circulating on social media months ago, Today reported. A shopper in Toronto noted that their warehouse had quietly carried the water combo for quite some time before the option gained wider attention online.
