The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling about 70,410 GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toys sold on Amazon $AMZN due to a serious choking risk.
According to the CPSC, the silicone strings on the toys fail to meet mandatory safety standards — they exceed permitted length and fall below permitted size thresholds. When a child uses the toy, the strings are long enough to extend to the back of the throat, where they can get stuck and cause respiratory distress or fatal choking. Three incidents have been reported to the CPSC in which children choked or experienced respiratory distress connected to the product.
Visually, the product consists of a disc in off-white with a grey central ball; six silicone pull strings in multiple colors pass through that ball, and the disc itself contains seven soft push buttons. The brand name and "Pull String Toy" appear on the front of the product packaging. Consumers can check the back of the product box for a batch number; units from batches 250905, 250530, 250120, 240315, 231005, or 230610 are part of the recall. The toys were sold on Amazon between Aug. 2023 and March 2026 for $11 to $15, according to WUSA9.
The CPSC is directing consumers to stop using the toy immediately and remove it from children's reach. Qualifying for a full refund requires several steps: all silicone strings must be cut, the words "DESTROYED" must be written in permanent marker across the toy's main body, and a photograph documenting the destruction must be emailed to [email protected] prior to discarding the product.
The GOPO TOYS recall is one of two recent actions targeting similar pull-string teething toys. The CPSC also recalled 24,400 LiKee Pull String Teething Toys on June 11 for the same reason. Designed similarly, the LiKee toy has a blue ball at its center set within an off-white disc, with six silicone pull strings; it retailed on Amazon for roughly $10 between November 2024 and December 2025.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a CPSC-ordered recall or a voluntary recall conducted in consultation with the agency, according to the CPSC.
