The biggest banks need better bankruptcy plans
Were the likes of JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs to go under, federal regulators aren’t entirely impressed by how they’d handle it.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Commission and Federal Reserve Board discovered weaknesses in the bankruptcy plans of Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase, the agencies disclosed last week. When provided with different inputs and scenarios, the banks’ plans hit a snag in a number of areas. Quartz’s Rocio Fabbro looked at the specifics of the banks’ shortcomings.
