Hi Quartz members!

Today we have a stunning interactive that charts the many rivals Microsoft has battled over the years. Before there was Amazon, Google, and IBM, there were companies like Sun Microsystems, Novell, and… well, IBM. We also have a close look at Microsoft Teams, the workplace chat platform that is not only a new product for Microsoft, but also a whole new way the company is thinking about communication.

Aside from Microsoft, we also have our weekly Tipping Points feature. This week, writer Allison Schrager is writing about how the biggest division in our country may not be political, regional, or cultural, but generational. How the young secure their future against an aging population that wants to hold on to its benefits will shape economics and policy for decades to come.

We’ll have more on Microsoft this week, including a Q&A with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, a comprehensive toolkit, and other features like Insider View (this week: what a behavioral economist won’t tell you about that goal you just set) and Consummate Consumer (airline lounge programs for the non-elite).

Let’s keep learning. Send questions, comments, and good workplace GIFs to members@qz.com.

Here’s to a rewarding day,
