Dear members—

We just published a new presentation on the four forces revolutionizing air travel. It builds on the reporting in our member field guide this week about the changes fast coming for the airline industry. Here’s one of my favorite slides:

The presentation is a way to get a quick snapshot of the essentials you need to know on the topic and, as always, we welcome you cribbing from the slides if they’re useful in your own work. We published new articles to the field guide during the week as well, including a look at the prospects for environmentally friendly planes, and a glimpse at the airport of the future.

Next week’s field guide tackles the future of war. We’re also planning three member calls next week—the best way to stay on top of the schedule is to add upcoming calls to your Google calendar.

And if you’re looking for a good topic to discuss this weekend with friends or family, I’d recommend Quartz senior reporter Jenny Anderson’s article about new research showing that having more conversations in your daily life makes you happier—even when they’re with people you barely know. But some types of conversations have an even deeper positive effect.

With best wishes for a great weekend,
