Mary Barra has been CEO of General Motors $GM (GM) since 2014. She started at GM when she was just 18 years old, working her way up the company. Forbes ranked her the 5th most powerful woman in the world in 2024.

Gail Koziara Boudreaux has been CEO of Elevance Health (ELV), formerly Anthem $ELV, since 2017. Before becoming CEO, she worked at Aetna (CVS), BlueCross BlueShield, and the UnitedHealth $UNH Group (UNH). Born in Massachusetts, she has degrees from Dartmouth College and Columbia University.

Scotland-born Jane Fraser has been CEO of Citigroup $C (C) since 2021. Before that, she was the president of Citigroup and the CEO of its consumer banking division. She started her career at Goldman Sachs $GS (GS) and previously worked at McKinsey. In 2023, Fortune ranked her the fourth most powerful woman.

Sarah London has been the CEO of Centene $CNC Corporation (CNC), a healthcare and health insurance company, since 2022. Raised in St. Louis, she has degrees from Harvard and the University of Chicago. At one point, she was the youngest CEO in the Fortune 500. She previously worked at Optum and Humedica.

Priscilla Almodovar has been the CEO of Fannie Mae (FNMA) since 2022. She was previously CEO of Enterprise Community Partners and a managing director at JPMorgan $JPM Chase (JPM). Almodovar has a law degree from Columbia Law School and grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island.

Carol Tomé has been the CEO of UPS (UPS) since 2020. Born in Jackson, Wyoming, Tomé began her career at United Bank of Denver. She worked at The Home Depot $HD (HD) from 1995 to 2019, rising all the way to the Chief Financial Officer.

Tricia Griffith has been the CEO of insurance giant The Progressive $PGR Corporation (PGR) since 2016. She became the company’s first woman CEO and, in 2018, was the first woman to be named Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year. She graduated from Illinois State University and the Wharton School of Business Advanced Management Program.

Israel-born Safra Catz is the CEO of Oracle $ORCL Corporation (ORCL), first becoming the joint CEO with Mark Hurd in 2014 and then becoming the sole CEO in 2019. Catz has worked at Oracle since 1999. She was named 12th most powerful woman in business in 2023 by Fortune. She holds an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
