The limited-edition Goomi's Green Mustard gets its color from spirulina and hits select retailers June 1

French's announced a partnership with Illumination's Minions & Monsters to release a limited-edition green mustard tied to the animated film, which arrives in theaters July 1, 2026. Spirulina, a naturally derived blue pigment, is what gives Goomi's Green Mustard its hue — when blended into French's existing yellow mustard base, the result is a bright green color with no change to the original taste.
The mustard is available online now and will reach select retailers nationwide beginning June 1, the company said. French's parent company McCormick & Company also unveiled a second limited-edition product, French's Minion Yellow Mustard, which features film-inspired packaging but is otherwise unchanged from the classic recipe. Online shoppers can also purchase a two-pack that includes one bottle of each variety, plus a limited-edition bottle topper modeled after a new Minion character named James, available exclusively through that channel while supplies last.
"French's has always been part of summer's biggest moments, from ballparks to backyard cookouts. Partnering with Illumination's Minions & Monsters reimagines that tradition with a surprisingly colorful and undeniably fun, green twist," said Tabata Gomez, Chief Growth & Marketing Officer at McCormick & Company, in a statement.
The campaign launched Tuesday with an event at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles, where attendees could interact with a display meant to show the mustard's color transformation in real time. Free hot dogs and pretzel bites topped with Goomi's Green Mustard were available, one per person, while supplies lasted.
French's also launched a branded online experience at Frenchs.com featuring recipes and content tied to the film. The company said none of the three products contain artificial colors or flavors and all are gluten-free.
Minions & Monsters is the latest entry in Illumination's Despicable Me and Minions franchise. The film's voice cast includes Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, and Trey Parker. It is directed by Pierre Coffin, who has directed the first 3 Despicable Me films and the first Minions film, and is distributed by Universal Pictures, a division of Comcast $CMCSA's NBCUniversal.
French's, which McCormick bills as the top-selling mustard brand in the world by retail value, was first introduced at the 1904 World's Fair.
