Giantex is recalling roughly 1,155 outdoor lounge chairs after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that consumers can catch their fingers in a pinch point while adjusting the chair, posing an amputation risk.
One finger amputation linked to the chair's adjustment mechanism has been reported to the CPSC. People noted that no identifying information about the victim was made available.
Affected units are blue chairs bearing model number NP10025NY, a designation that appears on both the front and side panels of the box. The chairs measure 76 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 13 inches high, and feature a five-position adjustable locking system with a backrest that can be raised from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches. The products were manufactured in China and distributed in California, the CPSC said.
Consumers should stop using the chairs and contact Giantex for a full refund. Depending on the arrangement, owners may receive a prepaid return label, or they may be directed to render the product unusable — by separating the headrest pillow, cutting through the fabric, and photographing the results as proof — before the refund is processed, the CPSC said.
