A blocked airbox backplate breather port prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to announce a recall of 88,039 Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold in the U.S., with the concern being that excess pressure could accumulate within the engine crankcase.
The NHTSA announced the recall on Friday.
This is the second significant recall Harley-Davidson has initiated in recent weeks. The company in April over a rear brake line that could contact the body control module, gradually wearing through the line and causing brake fluid loss. That recall covered four Softail models from the 2025 and 2026 model years built with a narrow frame and new electrical architecture.
