£76.1 million

The British royal family received £42.8 million ($54.8 million) from taxpayers in the financial year ending in 2017, and that value will jump to £76.1 million in the financial year ending in 2018.

The royal family uses the money to maintain itself and pay for trips. Now it needs the extra money to make “urgent repairs” to the Buckingham Palace.

The Queen’s treasurer, Alan Reid, said that shared, the bill is only £0.65 for every British person.

Reid also said that the royal family’s work “represents excellent value for money.” They appeared in 3,000 events in the financial year ending in March 2017.

They say costs with security (paid by the Metropolitan Police) and domestic trips (covered by local councils) are not included in that budget.
