College students in the US are using Venmo to buy drugs

Founded in 2009 and bought by PayPal in 2013, Venmo is a popular mobile payment service. It processed $17.6 billion in payments in 2016.

Besides buying drugs, some 250 college students that responded to the same survey said that they have used Venmo to gamble.

Both activities go against Venmo’s terms of service and the company tries to curb them when it is notified.
