Paris allows owners to rent properties in services like Airbnb for only 120 days per year, asking them to include a registration number in the listings so authorities can check if they are respecting the cap.

But at least 83% of listings in Airbnb didn’t present the number, or 45,000 out of 54,000 listings reviewed by French newspaper Figaro.

Cities around the world have been strengthening their regulations on home rentals, in part due to pressure from citizens, who complain about the removal of properties from local renting markets.
