Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on National Doughnut Day this Friday, June 5, with no purchase required.
The offer is limited to one doughnut per guest and is available in-shop and via drive-thru at participating U.S. locations. Specialty, seasonal, and limited-time doughnuts are excluded from the promotion, as are Original Glazed cinnamon rolls. Standard menu doughnuts eligible for the free offer include options such as the Original Glazed, Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles, and Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled, according to the company.
A separate deal also runs on June 5, allowing guests to pick up a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for $2 when any dozen is bought at full price. The deal is available in-shop and through the drive-thru, with a limit of two redemptions per guest. Online orders using promo code BOGO2 are capped at one redemption per guest, according to the company's website.
"National Doughnut Day is one of our most joyful traditions — a moment to celebrate the doughnuts people love, the guests who inspire us every day and the simple happiness that comes from sharing something sweet," Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, said in a statement. "We're excited to welcome everyone in on Friday to enjoy a free Krispy Kreme favorite and celebrate with us."
Falling on the first Friday of June, National Doughnut Day traces its origins to 1938, when The Salvation Army created the observance as a tribute to the female volunteers who brought doughnuts to American troops on the front lines of World War I.
Krispy Kreme is one of several chains offering promotions on June 5. At Dunkin', a free doughnut comes with any drink order, and Duck Donuts is handing out a complimentary classic doughnut to walk-in customers at no cost, per Restaurant News.
The National Doughnut Day promotion comes as Krispy Kreme faces separate legal proceedings: the company agreed to a $1.6 million settlement over a November 2024 data breach that exposed personal information belonging to roughly 161,000 current and former employees, with a claims deadline of June 22, 2026.
