Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs produced at its Texas farms over potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs produced at its Texas farms over potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.
The recalled eggs were produced between June 6 and July 3, 2026, and carry sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17, 2026, the company said. They were distributed to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, and were available at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi, and smaller retail outlets.
The eggs were sold under multiple brand names, including Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire's, Country Morning, and Sunups, the company said. Cartons are included in the recall only if they display the code P-1950 or 0840962 along with a Julian Date ranging from 157 to 184, printed in date-coding ink on the side of the carton.
Midwest Poultry Services said environmental monitoring at two of its Texas farms uncovered the contamination concern, and the company has since halted shipments of fresh eggs originating from those facilities. The company said it is not aware of any illnesses linked to the recalled products.
Salmonella Enteritidis can cause serious illness, particularly in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems, the company said. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can enter the bloodstream, leading to more severe conditions.
The company is advising anyone who bought the affected eggs to discard them or bring them back to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund, the company said.
