Panasonic Corporation of North America is recalling about 11,480 electric toaster ovens in the United States — and an additional 2,184 in Canada — after finding the appliances can pose a risk of electric shock or fire.
The recall covers all units of the Panasonic NB-G200 Electric Toaster Oven, a stainless steel model sold at Costco $COST and on Amazon $AMZN, as well as through other online retailers, for roughly $170 between October 2024 and April 2026, according to Fox Business. The model number is printed on a nameplate label on the back of the unit.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission identified the hazard as stemming from a fiberglass sleeve that fails to fully protect the power cord insulation, leaving it exposed in a way that could cause electric shock or fire. Four complaints to the agency described the appliance tripping circuit breakers or outlets, while a fifth consumer reported that their unit ceased to function altogether. No fires or injuries have been reported.
According to Fox Business, Panasonic reported that no Canadian incidents or injuries had come to its attention through June 15, 2026.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled appliance and contact Panasonic for a full refund. Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
