PT Organics Limited announced a voluntary recall of approximately 380,000 Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree pouches on Monday after an internal packaging defect was found to allow a strand of soft plastic to detach inside the finished product, according to Consumer Reports.
Kroger, Meijer, and Target $TGT were the three retail chains carrying the affected pouches, with sales running from March 6 through July 13, 2026, the company said. No injuries have been reported.
PT Organics, based in Lake Oswego, Oregon, said it initiated the recall after its packaging supplier flagged a defective production run last week. The company's own inspections of finished products confirmed the presence of a thin, soft strand of the inner pouch material in a small number of pouches. "The defect has the potential to result in a thin, soft strand of the inner pouch material becoming detached, and leaving the pouch when squeezed," the company states on its website.
Recalled pouches can be identified by three codes printed on the packaging: barcode 8 15367 01078 0; a lane number of "4" stamped along the rear right-hand side seam; and a best-before date falling on one of the following: 01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027, or 05/15/2027. No other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors, or best-before dates are included in the recall, the company said.
Parents and caregivers should keep the recalled pouches away from children entirely. Shoppers can bring the affected pouches back to any store where they bought them for a full refund — the company is accepting returns even on packages that have already been opened — or simply throw the pouches away. Caregivers who think their child ate any of the plastic material are advised to reach out to a pediatrician, according to Consumer Reports.
