Dreams do really come true. Well, they do in Shondaland.

Shonda Rhimes, the American TV producer and screenwriter, announced a crossover between her two beloved shows: ABC’s Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder (HTGAWM). Rhimes posted an extract of the script of law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) meeting DC fixer Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) in the upcoming crossover special, naturally called How to Get Away with Scandal.

Scandal’s Washington first set off the rumor mill when she tweeted an image of her character on the HTGAWM set, tagging Davis in the post. Davis would later follow-up with her own teaser image.

TV crossover is an often-used tactic to boost viewership and generate excitement among fans—and it’s safe to say Rhimes has managed the latter. Fans of both shows can barely contain their excitement for what promises to be a feast of dramatically delivered monologues, slow-motion walking, and cutting stares.

ABC has yet to confirm when the upcoming episode will air, but it will likely be later this year, as Scandal is now in its seventh and final season. HTGAWM, on the other hand, is in its fourth season. The crossover episode was written by Raamla Mohamed and directed by Tony Goldwyn (who also stars in Scandal as Fitzgerald Grant).
