New data from SmartAsset reveals where Americans are the most financially prepared for retirement

When it comes to retirement, some Americans are planning ahead better than others.

While the average person across the country might not have enough to guarantee a comfortable retirement, residents in certain states are stashing away significantly more than their peers.

Using census data and adjusting it to 2025 dollars based on S&P 500 growth, SmartAsset compiled a list of the states where households have the largest nest eggs.
