Uber $UBER announced a partnership with Expedia $EXPE Group earlier this week to bring hotel bookings into its app, the latest step in the company's effort to position itself as a single platform for travel, rides, and food delivery.
Unveiled at Uber's annual GO-GET event in New York, the new feature uses Expedia's inventory to show over 700,000 hotel listings for U.S. users. These can be found under a new 'hotels' tab on the app's home screen. Users can filter results by price, guest ratings, hotel class, brand, and amenities, and pay using their saved Uber payment method. Vrbo listings, also owned by Expedia, are expected to be added before the end of the year.
