Power Plate Meals LLC is recalling approximately 5,795 pounds of frozen meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes after the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service found the products contain soy that is not declared on the label.
FSIS made the recall public on June 18. Packages subject to the action are 13.3-ounce vacuum-sealed plastic trays of "Power Plate Meals Meatloaf With Garlic Mashed Potatoes" with a production window spanning June 25, 2025, to June 10, 2026; use-by dates on affected units fall between June 25, 2026, and June 10, 2027. Shoppers can identify recalled packages by looking for the establishment number "217SEND" printed inside the USDA mark of inspection.
According to FSIS, the issue came to light when a state inspector alerted the agency that soy had been left off the label's ingredients list entirely. Federal law designates nine ingredients as major allergens subject to mandatory label disclosure; soy is among them, alongside milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and sesame, according to Newsweek.
Distribution of the affected meals reached three states — Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota — and FSIS cautioned that units may remain in household freezers. To date, no injuries or allergic reactions tied to the product have been reported.
Anyone holding one of the recalled packages is advised to discard it or bring it back to the retailer rather than consume it. People who think they may have reacted to the product after eating it should seek guidance from a medical professional. Mislabeled allergens consistently rank as a leading driver of food recalls across the country — Newsweek reports they made up roughly 38.8% of all FDA and USDA recalls in 2025. For individuals with allergies, exposure to even trace quantities of an undisclosed ingredient can produce reactions ranging from hives and swelling to anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal condition, the FSIS noted.
