The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for several frozen pizzas and pork rinds sold at Aldi and Walmart $WMT after the products were found to contain a dry milk powder ingredient previously recalled for possible salmonella contamination.

The alert was first published on April 30 and updated on May 1. It now includes at least six products. Two Mama Cozzi's breakfast pizzas sold only at Aldi are affected: the Biscuit Crust Sausage & Cheese Breakfast Pizza and the Biscuit Crust Cooked Pork Belly Crumbles, Cooked Bacon Topping, Pepper & Onion Breakfast Pizza. Both have best buy dates from February 17 to February 26, 2026.

The May 1 update added three Great Value frozen pizzas sold at Walmart $WMT: the Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch, with best buy dates from February 11 to March 8, 2026; the Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch, with the same date range; and another Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch with a best buy date of April 13, 2026. The Culinary Circle Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, with a best buy date of February 19, 2026, was also added.

Pork King Good's Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds and Party Size Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds, with best buy dates running from June to August 2026, are also subject to the alert.

More items are likely to be added to the list, the Food Safety and Inspection Service noted, as the recall of the underlying ingredient continues to unfold, according to People. As of May 1, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions had been tied to any of the affected products.

told USA Today in a written statement that customer health and safety is its top concern. The company confirmed it has removed the affected items from shelves and stopped further sales. Aldi had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Customers who bought any of the affected products should not eat them. The USDA recommends throwing the items away or returning them to the store where they were purchased. For food safety questions, people can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or email [email protected].

Salmonella illness usually starts between six hours and six days after eating a contaminated product. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and headache. Most people recover in four to seven days. However, the elderly, very young children, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for serious complications that may need hospital care.
