Walmart is recalling pistachio nut butter sold in 19 states over salmonella risk

The recall was triggered after Walmart learned on July 17, 2026, that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had detected salmonella in three jars of the product during a routine inspection at a Walmart store, the FDA said. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.

The affected item is a 6.7-ounce glass jar bearing lot code LB028ACP04, UPC 194346207961, and an expiration date of Jan. 28, 2027. Only that specific lot is subject to the recall, according to the FDA. The product was manufactured by Gustibus Alimentari Srl of Assoro, Italy, imported by Botticelli Foods of Melville, New York, and distributed exclusively by Walmart.

Stores in the following 19 states received the affected product: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming.

The FDA warned that Salmonella poses the greatest danger to young children, elderly people, and immunocompromised individuals, among whom infections can turn serious or even fatal. People who are otherwise healthy may experience symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. When the bacteria reaches the bloodstream — an uncommon but serious development — it can lead to complications such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

Anyone who bought the recalled lot is advised to discard it or bring it back to a Walmart location for a full refund.
