We last month launched a new app for the Quartz community, which has been getting enthusiastic reviews from its users. “I never thought I would say an app has made me, a well informed person, better informed,” one wrote in the Apple app store. “But here it is: In addition to being fun and entertaining, the Quartz app has made me better informed.”
One of the app’s features is Quartz Pros, some of the top thinkers and doers in business who have committed to sharing their takes on the news regularly. We’re now expanding the group of Pros, and are excited to introduce you to the newest members of this hand-picked roster of leaders so that you can look out for them and follow them in the app.
John Battelle, cofounder and CEO, NewCo—John has founded or cofounded more than half a dozen companies across media and technology, including NewCo, Federated Media Publishing, the Web 2 Summit, Standard Media International, and Wired magazine. He is the author of The Search: How Google and its rivals rewrote the rules of business and transformed our culture and is currently lecturing and conducting research at Columbia University.
Ryan Hoover, founder of Product Hunt—Ryan in 2013 founded Product Hunt, which was backed by Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, and others before being acquired by AngelList in 2016. More recently, Ryan started Weekend Fund to invest in and support early stage companies.
Israel Idonije, founder of Athlitacomics, retired NFL athlete—Israel built an 11-year NFL career, including 10 years with the Chicago Bears. He is the founder of iF Charities and Athlitacomics, a creator of comic content, and cofounder of cryptocurrency security company Crypto Key Stack.
Ellen Stofan, the John and Adrienne Mars director of the National Air and Space Museum—As director, Ellen is leading the Washington DC institution through a major renovation project. She earlier served as chief scientist at NASA, and has a PhD in geological sciences.
Tiffany Zhong, founder and CEO of Zebra Intelligence—Tiffany founded Zebra Intelligence as a platform that allows brands to get authentic feedback from youth. She invests in and advises early stage startups. By age 18, she had joined a Silicon Valley venture capital fund as an investor.
