Coldplay has mesmerised India so much that frontman Chris Martin is all we are seeing everywhere.
On Nov. 18, the British rock band performed its first-ever concert in India with some 80,000 people in attendance. Tickets for the concert went for up to Rs12,000, some serious money at a time when the country is running out of cash.
But the band and concert organisers aren’t the only ones to have made merry. There’s an unlikely beneficiary: Chris Martin. No, not Coldplay’s frontman.
Chris Martin, a 30-year-old English standup comedian and writer, has gained over 1,000 new followers on Twitter as Indians continue to confuse him with his namesake.
The madness hasn’t stopped even after Martin’s attempts to clarify that he is not the English musician.
Initially, the comic included “NOT IN COLDPLAY” in his Twitter bio. Now, he has also updated his display photo to make things clear:
But since the frenzy doesn’t seem to be dying anytime soon, Martin is now attempting to cash in on the opportunity. After Coldplay’s Martin, the comedian Martin might soon plan his debut event in India—or just visit the country to watch a cricket match.
