Francesca Berardi is an Italian journalist based in New York and author of the book "Detour in Detroit." Her work examines urban inequality, the economics of race, and immigration policies. Francesca is currently part of a fellowship program in education reporting at Columbia University School of Journalism, where she graduated pursuing a Master in Politics. She is also a recipient of a Magic Grant at the Brown Institute for Media Innovation. She moved to the US in 2011 and has freelanced for Italian media outlets since then.
