Born in London, and educated in Scotland, rather like his great aunt Patrick Garrett has spent most of his working life abroad. He began in television in Glasgow but soon moved to Hamburg, Germany and then Moscow, before catching up with aunt Clare in Hong Kong. His love of travel however drew him to work in the airline industry, and for the last decade he has been back in Moscow managing Russia operations for a major Asian carrier.
