The Cincinnati-based company said it had profit of $5.90 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $6.60 per share.
The operator of the Roto-Rooter plumbing service and Vitas Healthcare hospices posted revenue of $585.9 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $272.5 million, or $17.93 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.26 billion.
Chemed shares have climbed 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $596.60, an increase of 11% in the last 12 months.
