Hi Quartz members!
Another level of esports
It’s another busy one. We continue our look at the world of esports with a revealing article by one of our tech reporters, Dave Gershgorn, who went deep into the world of esports training. Dave spent time with an esports organization owned by the same group that owns the Dallas Cowboys, and the esports team is beginning to rely on some of the same support services and facilities as the professional football players. Accompanying Dave’s article is a fascinating video that will take you right inside the world of professional esports training.
Private Key
Our second weekly installment of Private Key looks at how international bank payments are being upended by cryptocurrency—or even just by the threat of it.
Inside View
We’re proud to add a new feature to membership today called Inside View. Each week, we’ll reveal the secrets of a given profession, straight from the people who practice it. This week, we pull back the curtain on cybersecurity and what the risks really are. The answers may surprise you.
Double conference call this week
Not only will we have our regularly scheduled members-only conference call about esports on Friday, but we’ll also hold another call today at 11 a.m. ET/4 p.m. GMT to talk about corporate-earnings season. I’ll be joined by Quartz global finance and economics editor Jason Karaian and Mike Murphy, Quartz’s deputy tech editor. We’ll be talking about Amazon, Apple, Disney, Google, Netflix, and Snapchat—as well as anything you want to ask us. To join the call, go to this address, or call in to +1 888 240 2560 and use meeting code 722 994 440.
Let’s keep learning. Send questions, comments, and training regimens to members@qz.com.
Here’s to a rewarding day,
Sam Grobart
