Indians are pretty excited about Game of Thrones (GoT) and more so about one particular character from the world’s most popular TV show.
Jon Snow was the most discussed GoT character based on discussions on Instagram in India during the 30 days till April 14, the social media platform said in a release. Other key protagonists of HBO’s wildly successful fantasy drama who Indians are obsessing over include Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, and the Stark sisters.
As the eighth and final season of GoT aired today (April 15) around the world, Indians have become the show’s biggest followers in Asia. They have had the fourth highest number of conversations globally, about GoT in the last 30 days, Instagram said on April 14.
India has the second biggest user base on the Facebook-owned social media platform.
Among cities in the country, Instagrammers based in the financial capital Mumbai showed the greatest interest in GoT.
Several pubs across these cities have been organising quiz nights and screenings, as well as more outlandish events such as “Holding the door open like Hodor.”
