The 360-megawatt campus in Batam will serve AI-native customers and is expected to generate up to $30 billion in committed revenue over six years

Firmus Technologies announced a strategic compute partnership with Nvidia $NVDA running through 2034, anchored by a 360-megawatt AI factory campus in Batam, Indonesia. The facility will house up to 170,000 Nvidia AI accelerator chips and is set to go live in the first quarter of 2027, the company said.
The Batam campus is being developed with Singapore-headquartered DayOne and will serve AI-native, enterprise, and independent software vendor customers — a different focus from Firmus's Australian projects, which target large cloud computing companies. Firmus co-CEO Tim Rosenfield told Reuters that the structure is intended to help smaller and emerging AI firms access infrastructure on terms that have typically favored larger players with stronger credit ratings. "This is actually a really material way to level the playing field a little bit to give the next a chance to compete with the big guys," he said.
The partnership is structured so that Firmus purchases Nvidia hardware and markets cloud services built on that hardware, with Nvidia receiving both standard product revenue and a portion of cloud revenue generated from the supported capacity. Nvidia will earn standard product revenue plus a share of cloud revenue from the supported capacity, the company said. The chip agreement covers Grace-Blackwell, Vera-Rubin, and Vera platforms through 2027 and 2028.
Over the initial six years of the deal, committed offtake agreements are projected to bring in somewhere between $25 billion and $30 billion, according to the company. At the core of the campus is the integration of Nvidia's DSX full-stack AI factory platform with Firmus's proprietary HyperCube liquid-cooled architecture.
A fundraising round completed in April, spearheaded by Coatue Management, valued Firmus at $5.5 billion. Nvidia has participated in previous Firmus capital raisings, making it an investor in the firm, the company said. People familiar with the matter told Reuters that investment banks have been engaged to explore a possible listing, a topic on which Rosenfield offered no comment.
Separately, Firmus struck a deal with CDC Data Centers last year, targeting up to 1.6 gigawatts of Nvidia-powered capacity across Australia, with a completion horizon of 2028. Batam's proximity to Singapore positions it as a potential regional AI compute hub, according to The Next Web.
Construction costs for AI-optimized data centers have been climbing, with facilities designed for high-density AI workloads reaching $20 million per megawatt or more due to advanced liquid cooling requirements — the same approach Firmus is deploying in Batam.
