Rocket Lab announced Thursday that it will join the Nasdaq $NDAQ-100 Index, sending RKLB stock higher as investors responded to the news. The addition takes effect before the market opens on June 22.
The Nasdaq-100 tracks the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market. More than 200 investment products with over $800 billion in assets under management globally are linked to the index, the company said. Among the index's other members are Nvidia $NVDA, Apple $AAPL, Amazon $AMZN, and Microsoft $MSFT, per MSN.
Joining Rocket Lab in the June 22 reshuffle are four additional companies — according to MarketWatch: Astera Labs, a maker of connectivity chips; CoreWeave and Nebius, both cloud-computing firms; and semiconductor equipment manufacturer Teradyne.
"This is a landmark moment for Rocket Lab," founder and CEO Sir Peter Beck said in a statement. "Inclusion in the Nasdaq-100 reflects the extraordinary journey our team has been on, from a small company with big ambitions to a global space leader."
Rocket Lab went public on the Nasdaq in 2021 and has since completed more than 80 successful launches, deploying more than 250 satellites to orbit, the company said. The company is developing a medium-class rocket called Neutron and serves as a provider of hypersonic test launch capability to the Department of War.
Separately, MSN reports that the timing of the index entry aligns with a manufacturing milestone: the rollout of Rocket Lab's 100th Electron rocket. Operations for the small-satellite vehicle are supported by launch pads on two continents, with sites in both New Zealand and Virginia serving active missions.
Rocket Lab posted record first-quarter revenue of $200.3 million, a 63.5% increase from the year-ago period, and ended the quarter with a backlog of $2.2 billion, up 20.2% from the prior quarter. The company projected second-quarter revenue of $225 million to $240 million. Measured from January, shares have climbed more than 64% in 2025.
