Trader Joe's is releasing striped mini tote bags in 4 pastel colors on June 17

Weighing in at a compact 13-by-11-by-6 inches, each bag is sewn from a cotton-polyester blend (65% and 35%, respectively) and includes side pockets for additional storage, according to the company. Stock will be restricted and may differ from one location to the next, according to company spokesperson Nakia Rohde. "The size is ideal for smaller shopping trips, to pick up those few items you forgot the first time around," Rohde said in a statement. "Just be sure to pick up a Tote while you can — supplies are limited."

None of the previous canvas mini tote releases have incorporated a striped pattern, making this drop a first for the series. Earlier iterations in the canvas mini tote lineup — among them Halloween editions, a spring pastel assortment, and a smaller micro version — routinely emptied shelves within hours and drew queues stretching outside store entrances. The bags originally went viral in March 2024, selling out at most locations within hours, with sets of four later listed on eBay at prices approaching $1,000.

Paired with the tote announcement, the company disclosed it has taken legal action in response to unauthorized imitations of the bags circulating on online marketplaces. "We are aware that some knockoff totes are being sold online and have recently filed a lawsuit to protect our customers from being misled," Rohde said. The company did not provide specific details about the lawsuit, according to AOL.

Rohde said that selling only in stores helps protect shoppers, since keeping products off third-party sites ensures customers get real Trader Joe's goods. Demand for the totes has grown worldwide. According to AOL, shoppers in countries like Japan and the Philippines have looked for the bags and sometimes paid much more than the original price through resellers.

The June 17 canvas tote drop follows last month's release of the Summer Fun Mini Insulated Totes, which drew lines outside stores before opening on May 20. Available in half a dozen patterns, the $3.99 insulated version moved quickly, leaving many stores without stock shortly after opening. Shoppers eyeing the striped canvas version face the same caveat that applied to last month's insulated drop: once a store's inventory is gone, that's it.
