The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters took credit for cyber attacks against six major US banks, including Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase, that cut off customers from online accounts last week. The group said it was retaliating against the US after a video mocking the Prophet Muhammed was posted on Youtube. Customers knocked the banks lack of responsiveness before the relatively unsophisticated attacks, and the hacktivists, apparently unconnected with any government, promised to continue their attacks on US and European financial institutions.
